Sylleth gathers Father Howell, Nazzak and Olive, Thorum and Ehecatl Skljef join them. They hitch up a cart and horse, packing the essentials into the cart.
Food has been increased on the Market Place. There is an increase in lamb shank, and vegetables supplied by the Elven Quarter.
Olive precures carrots and rations. Father Howell and Thorum precure an entire elephant leg of mixed meat, and five loaves of bread. Passers by approach the back of the cart thinking that we're selling food. Father Howell provides a few sandwichs for free.
Olive prays to Fate, who says he is growing in power and that is has taken a long time to get all the pieces the way they are supposed to be. He says, "Soon." Fate says that the future is set and the only goal is to reassign task to those who are less reliable and untrustworthy. Then, Fate says he must leave Olive because he sees what he needs. He says in a few hours, Olive will be closer to him and her piousness won't go unnoticed.
Nazzak wanders off and finds a shop that has clothes in the window. A dwarven lady is behind the counter. Its a laundrette, but the kind woman, Kylis, helps him acquire clothes. She gives Nazzak a woollen hat, knitted vest, full-length trousers, scarf and mittens in striped green and blue wool. She cuts the fingers off to increase the grip on Nazzak's sword. She makes a few toys, including a tiny owlbear plushy, which was for her niece who is gone now. The owl has real feathers. She asks Nazzak to come back at a later date and collect his loin cloth once it has soaked for a while.
A man stops Stavros on the way to the cart, selling crosscou, a breaded food. He denies the offer moving on and agreeing to join the others on their journey north.
Olive is looking younger, a strain of ginger returning to her grey hair. She helps to teach Nazzak to drive the cart and guide the horses.
The group travels along Myloch's Way, moving north towards the Northern Pass. There is snow on the mountain peaks and a chill in the northern air. Some of the trees have lost their leaves. The North Woods look peaceful. They travel on, past the Northern Pass.
A short distance of to the right, a short figure with a red cape is picking through the stuff at the Helvettian Garrison. He says his name is Gump, he has stuff and a goblinesque look to his features - perhaps a half goblin. He wants to specify that he is a good person, despite his look. He doesn't know who is parents are. He was abandoned in a crate and raised by dwarves. As soon as he was young enough, he got himself out into the wilds. He has a sack full of stuff ready for trade or money. He is hoping on heading to the city. He is very comfortable underground, which allows him to get stuff in those places. He even grave robs without waking up corpses. Thorum tells Gump to seeks Nanny Stonewall and the police man.
He lays out some of his goods - a small brass whistle, a door knob, silver spoon with a hole in it, small vial of red liquid with bubbles inside [M], a statuette of a bear [M], one large brass gauntlet, a book [M], a hunting horn [M], 6 candles, black woollen cap [M], fist side chunk of crystal containing a rose [M], a small red flag [M], a wooden pen [M], folded paper animal (quadruped with a horn on its nose) [M], a jar of buttons in a liquid (smells storngly of alcohol) and a long hair pin stained red.
Olive trades a black dragon scale for the bear statuette. Thorum trades some poison for the gauntlet. Sylleth gives him 9gp for the book. Throum trades gold for the horn. Nazzak swaps an old sharp knife for the hair pin.
When anyone starts to read the book it causes imminent sadness. It says "Once, far away there was..." and then the tears begin.
Gump found the hair pin in a woman's head. She had been killed with the hair pin. She was in her bedroom. Her house was down the mountain way, in the east. He was in her house looking for swapsies. It was a house among many.
Olive offers 100gp for everything on the floor, but he does keep some stuff in his sack for swapsies later.
Nazzak warns Gump to avoid the Helvettians. He does a human impression, introducing himself as Mr Gump.
Moving on, a woman, Perar, wearing brown clothes, a brown hat and white blond hair approaches. She is in her late twenties. She has a sandwich and a sit down. She asks about the city from the south. She says she's on her own at the moment, and lots of people are moving south. She has been living in the northern part of Briudor for some time. But, with rumours of Morthel being gone, she is looking for something better.
We give her our names when she asks and tell her we are seeking knowledge. Nazzak speaks about bringing honour back to his tribe. She encourages him to share his stories about how the Orc King.
She informs us about Briudor. It is a ruin, with lots of aggressive people amongst the normal people. She suggests staying clear of the mountains because of giants, trolls and other beasts. She says the goliaths were in charge of Briudor, but they left alongside the guards. Terore a beast of a man, trying to get people together and push his weight around. There is lots of conflict around the gods, and then the older gods.
Til gives her 50gp to help her sort her life out.
The further north the group moves, the thicker the snow. Eventually, the adventurers approach a lake and then a river. Far to the east there is a collection of logs forming a rough bridge which the group turns the cart towards it.
Oliver ritually casts speak with animals. The horse introduces itself as Nay. Its reluctant to go across the bridge, but Olive guides it across with a discussion about how horses are treated. The horse nearly slips in and then freaks out.
He talks about some murders and weird sexual experiences he's witnesses. He was a hobgoblin mount who saw the horror they released on the others.
The adventurers approach the stone pillars surrounding Briudor. A number of them, maybe ten, have been knocked down. In the centre of the town, a rough building has been reassembled haphazardly with The Bell Tower pulled up into position again. Remains of tents and wooden palisades have been abandoned.
Moving into the city, there is a large poop, still hot from its owner. The snow is churned up and a splatter of blood marks the building on the left. Nay is jittery.
A yeti charges out of the snow towards the group, followed by five more who were hidden in the ruins. The wind picks up and the bell rings out in the snow. The snow burst open and a huge yeti emerges from the ground. It breathes a cone of cold onto Sylleth and Til. As the bell continues to ring in the wind, a terrifying whispering is heard on the air.
During the battle, Til banishes the largest of the yetis. Then Sylleth grabs the pendant he found and talks to Revios, asking the Avatar to intercede in order to take the yetis as a form of good faith on their agreement. However, her response is "The white man, he comes. He comes."
One of the green ghostly creatures flies down from the bell, screaming into the snow and knocking most of the adventurers unconscious.
One of the banshees is destroyed by Nazzak, splattering a foul liquid all over Til.
The final small yeti grabs the meat stick from the cart and runs off. Howell fires a guiding bolt that hits Stavros.
The bell is swinging madly, a shimmering form appearing in the wind above The Bell Tower.
-
A vortex of mist and energy begins to appear at the top of The Bell Tower. Syleth gives Father Howell a piece of parchment and runs for the scaffold that is holding up The Bell Tower. Nazzak climbs the structure and cuts down the bell, but a female figure has materialised. Sylleth misty steps up to the women, and presents her with the amulet presented by Revios. The figure takes the necklace and offers Sylleth the price - to bring Kira back to life, to live a long and happy life with Sylleth. The women is becoming more solid as the moments pass.
A huge statue of a woman, 30ft tall in white stone, with a bird on her arm appears in the clearing. Her stone lips do not move, but she tells Revios that this is not her power to give.
Stavros sends a fire bolt up at the ethereal creature, but it misses and the woman withdraws her hand. Sylleth opens himself up to her and something is transferred into the wizard.
The statue then says, 'That is my power. It is not your power to give.' Olive attacks the statue in snake form. Olive had asked Fate for guidance on what to do, and he had indicated that the joining between Sylleth and Revios must happen.
Revios is skewed by a huge spear from the statue which pierces Revios's chest. Sylleth asks who it that is threatening their bargain. The wizard casts dispel magic, revealing a male form that is controlling the statue. Sylleth tells Revios to flee if she must preserve her safety. But, she can't seem to teleport away. Fate is limited her powers. She tries to remove the spear.
Olive realises that the figure emerging from the statue is Fate, she contacts him telepathically and
During the fight, Til uses sending, messaging Harbinger - "Fate is at Briudor. Large statue type figure. Pretending to be other gods. Also, Extremely dangerous in this area. Could be goodbye." Harbinger replies - "Where exactly? Fate is harvesting the avatars. He has taken Zull. The bastard left me a taunting note. If you are in danger - run."
Fate reaches towards the sky. He calls a meteor strike on Revios. Then, he casts 'Misfortune' on Sylleth which gives him disadvantage on pretty much everything.
Sylleth casts Dispel Magic on the spear, which dissipates. But, then Fate drains her like a Genai Stone, covering her veined lines.
Til stands between the woman and Fate, but it is too late. Revios has left the vessel and the woman is completely confused. Fate reaches out to hurt Til, who is now under the effect of misfortune, but, with help of Stavros's restoration of balance, he resists the ability.
Til is drained by Fate. The god, if he is a god, says that it is Til's Fate to die today. Nazzak drags him away. A spear floats into the air, pointing towards Til. A bell appears above Til's head. When Nazzak tries to drag Til further the bell moves onto the half orc.
The spear of Mortal Death hits Til multiple times, doing enough to kill him if it were not for Death Ward. There is flesh beneath the stone on Fate's face now. Because, of the bell, Fate says it is Nazzak's fate to die. Carrying Til, the bell shifts again.
Exactly six seconds after the bell appeared, psychic damage wracks through Til. Fate says when he dies, he will not go to Garr. He has seen to it. Fate continues to attack Til, until he is outright killed.
Everyone runs, except Olive who follows Fate away from the scene. The remaining adventurers regroup a few rises away, where Father Howell tries to revivify Til. But, it fails.
Til wakes, the ringing sound distant. He wakes in a darkened landscape. Grey soil is beneath his feet. There is a cliff edge ahead, with a tall tower, where winged, leathery demons rise and fall around the tower. There is a glow coming from the tower that calls to Til. The door opens, there is a town ahead and Til floats ahead. He crosses a bridge, passes two huge armoured figures and enters the castle. Through an archway, into a massive hallway, a black-skinned, winged creature with pure white eyes inspects Til.
This creature speaks with Til. He thinks he is a special soul, for peasants go straight up to the upper floors of the tower where the master is waiting. The creature says that his soul will be greatly received for its power and consumed like the others. He sees creatures on each floor, tormented, roaming and his power drains with each floor. The creatures says that Ankhelus has power here. At the top floor, they stand in a large circular room. There is a rolling sphere that turns and rolls, wisps of souls fly in through the windows entering the orb. An obese creatures, all black except curved horns, obese, stands in here. Til floats towards his teeth.
Nazzak performs rights to Garr over Til, badly.
The group arrives back in Myste-Hass, and Father Howell insists that Til is taken to Engaro at the Temple of Imogen in the late hours. Engaro immediately emerges from the back room. He examines the dwarf and prays to Imogen.
Engaro reaches out towards Father Howell. The tempreture rises, a pealsant warmth around, the air sweet with the scent of roses. She tells Father Howell to keep his eyes closed. Imogen says that the gods find themselves closer to the mortal world
Father Howell is in a large room with six chairs. There is a woman of impossible beauty ahead, the other chairs appear empty. Garr speaks. Since the gate was opened, he has not received any souls. Father Howell admits that he tried to revivify Til and the soul did not come, but Garr said the soul would have returned if it were on the way to the god of death.
Nazzak, Father Howell and Sylleth goes to the Temple of Garr. A right is being performed under the moon. Heller is performing the ceremony. Father Howell deems Heller's performance as insincere. The father tries to get the group to leave, but Sylleth challenges Heller. Heller takes a step back, arguing that we are wrong. He says that he speaks with [[Garr] all the time.
Sylleth challenges Heller on sharing Morthel's views. He is definitely shaken, and threatening to the group.
