Jerek gathers a group together at the newly refurbished Hung Goat - Nadja, Kishaan, Brammond, Tobias, Nazzak and Danny. An elf, Elin, has come to Jerek because his friend, Renhen, had gone investigating crypts near a pyramid in the north. This adventurer needs rescuing.
A gentleman approaches the table, Mr Kendis, his cloak thrown back. He offers Jerek twenty horses in a bulk deal, of 20 gold per horse. He has to get rid of them today. There are twenty ragged horses, with haunted eyes, lashed fur and ill-temperament outside the tavern. Nazzak asks the horse escorter, Derek, about the horses.
The horses look like they've been recently reined with rough leather, and only some of them have shoes. However, none are branded.
The group tries to negotiate with Mr Kendis, but nothing comes of it. Tobias calls for a militia guard, Skek Rosin. Mr Kendis agrees to sell the hoses for seven gold each to prevent the situation. Nazzak purchases the items.
Jerek finds Elin. He thought that Renhen would ask Elin to come along, but he may have run off for the glory.
Nazzak then buys five riding horses (Sparks, Sundrop, Kalahari, Zylan and Melody) and a draught horse for himself, Charmer.
The group set off along Myloch's Way, moving six miles north to the well, leaving twenty horses at Nazzak's hut.
Elin spreads rumours about the Church of Alaie, where something was found in the basement that the Council of of Myste-Hass has cordoned off. Elin informs on the landmarks with a selection of accurate and inaccurate knowledge.
Eventually, he turns the group off the path, towards the pyramid in the east. A large excavation area, recessed into the ground, lies ahead. There are outlines of all kinds of other buildings in the nearby area.
Elin claims all kind of ancient, foul races are buried here. The man is so excited, he seems far more concerned about the artifacts to be found, rather than Renhen's safety.
Five Helvettians call halt, their leader Gias, and approach at a half jog. Gias has a geometric tattoo on his right arm. The Helvettians seem really concerned that the adventurers wander the land opening crypts, and releasing dragons. Jerek convinces them that he was instrumental in bringing down Morthel, and allows the group in to look for their friends, but only if no crypts are not opened.
The Helvettians have a garrison in the pass, one in Briudor and one towards the east.
Elin seems certain that Renhen went to the a crypt on the right-hand side, closest to the mountain range. They'd been looking for something with Sardonyx.
Kashaar sends Peppay to look for disturbed ground.
Elin says that legend tells the pyramid used to be inhabited by a scaled folk, who subjugated lesser races. They were not connected to the gods as people are now, and used another source, a great power ocnduit, to get their power.
THe party splits into two groups. Tobias's group hears voices, talking about opening one of the crypts. Largos and Greta are there documenting, and seemingly looting, the crypts.
They open the crypt. Inside, the one wall has a white sun motif, the opposite having a black star motif.
The group moves into the crypts, passing empty alcoves. A trap goes off, but it doesn't actually activate for age.

However, further down the corridor, a blade swipes from the wall. The group uses heavy rocks to keep the wall activated, avoiding the traps.

Opening the door to a large chamber, Jerek gets a strange sense of recognition. There are bodies strung up in this chamber, long dead but hung in manacles.
Jerek uses his divine sense and gets nothing. The air cools as Jerek enters the room. The manacled skeletons drop from the walls and attack.
Meanwhile, Brammond looks back and sees a bunch of armoured figures entering the complex. Then, Elin turns on Jerek and says - "Jerek is going to meet his Fate tonight." He goes on to say, "we intend to die today. It is our destiny. All that matters is Jerek meets his."
Kishaan casts magical darkness in the corridor between the new attackers and Jerek, but all of the group trip into a huge pile in an attempt to leave the corridor blind.
Elin drops a glass, magical ball when he is killed by Nazzak, and a voice is heard. The thin, old woman's voice, recognisable as Olive to many, says that she never expected it to be him, but he has been chosen.
All the bodies have Fate symbols etched onto them somewhere.
Danny keeps the mystery magical ball.
