- The Control Collars are golden torques which seal upon a persons neck with the interaction of a magical influence and they then can be used to force the will of the wearer.
- If the collars are removed forcibly, they explode in an immensely powerful burst of arcane fire, often killing the wearer and hurting any in proximity.
- The Control Collars are activated and deactivated with a remote that require arcane skill to use.
- An early version of the control collar which was used on the red dragon, could be deactivated by a remote, or rod, that had a set number of charges in it.

- Morthel saw the mass production of Control Collars to be used on goliaths and powerful individuals of note that required controlling. Supposedly, it was The Deacon who made and improved the design of these magical devices.
