- Berticus, Father Howell, Sylleth, Jerek, now wielding the Dragon Slayer Longsword, Mrs Stonewall and Nazzak head west towards the coast on horseback, when two wyverns drop from the sky assaulting the group. Jerek's horse is killed.
- The wyverns are drawn to the softer targets, Sylleth and Father Howell, and the wyvern stings Father Howell, killing the priest of Imogen outright.
