Susnos

From Into the Wilds Wiki

Susnos was a priestess of Alaie, who once worshiped at the Church if Alaie in times long ago. Little is known of her life as a priestess, until the paladin knight of Silma, Ardanath Cross, saw her and fell in love. It is not clear whether Cross's love was reciprocated, but, in passion, he petitioned Silma to allow him to cast aside his wife, a request that Silma denied. In a rage he rode home that night. No one truly knows what happened, save that his wife and child were found dead the next morning.
Aghast at the actions of her foremost warrior, Silma found Susnos and drained her of her life force, leaving her withered shell of a body for Adarnath to find as a punishment for his crime. Upon finding her body, Adarnath took his own life. If he could not be with her here, he would be with her in the realm of Garr. But, Silma had trapped the soul of Susnos so Adarnath could not be reunited with her. Adarnath fought his way from the realm of the dead, some say killing one hundred Reapers to find his way back to the world of the living. He rose again as a Knight of Death, eternally searching for Susnos and prepared to slay any who stood in his way. It was another 10 years before he was defeated. He was interred in the Tower of Dariss, sealed in a casket and watched over by the ten warriors of Dariss who finally imprisoned him.
Many years later, the adventurers of Myste-Hass accidentally released Adarnath from his imprisonment at the Tower of Dariss. Berticus faced the paladin of Silma, but was forced to run due to the power of the man.
In attempt to end the conflict with the paladin, the adventurers head to the Tower of Dariss and seemingly defeat Ardanath Cross in a deadly fight.
The party find Susnos's soul trapped in the Soul Jar which they were seeking in Xafiq's Lair in order to remove Silma's spirit from Ulborin. When the Soul Jar is opened, Susnos's spirit flees.
Susnos's body is discovered, buried in a sea cave off the coast off the southern coast, to the east of Myste-Hass. When the adventurers find her body, they collect up her bones and deliver them to the Temple of Garr to see her properly laid to rest. However, it does not appear to work.
An undead horde gathers outside Myste-Hass, forcing the adventurers to set off to the Temple of Resurrection and deal with the issue. Making their way through tombs filled with sarcophaguses and undead, they meet Ardanath Cross. It is clear he is attempting some ritual with red Genai Stones in order to resurrect Susnos. The spirit of Susnos and Ardanath both appear to be killed.
Deeper within the complex of the Temple of Resurrection, they discover Ardanath Cross and Susnos held within a triangular ritual circle. It appears that Ardanath and his love are being resurrected yet again. Discussion with Susnos unveils that Ardanath’s obsession with her is unwanted and uncontrollable. Corym banishes Susnos in order to protect her from the undead paladin. Meanwhile, the rest of the party face off against Ardanath, this time destroying his body to ash. Corym releases the spell and Susnos returns and flees.
At the Pyramid in the Eastern Swamp, Susnos returns to the living. As far as the adventurers are aware, 'Til was granted a gift by Imogen for cleansing the her temple and defeating the statue possessed by the Avatar, Traeloc. She asks 'Til to open the sarcophagus in the temple, and the adventurers find Susnos inside, holding the Dragonslayer Longsword.
The reawakened Susnos wants to be near a place of worship at all times. It appears that she can offer some a clear channel of communication to the gods when she places her hand on an alter.
