The adventurers finally arrive at the Tower of Dariss as night falls. They ride into the crowd and speak to them. Then a low rumble of thunder is accompanied by a flash of lightning from the south to the north. The refugees are moved into the caves beneath the tower. Corym speaks to Cochban who asks after Datura and claims he is hungry. Gartok speaks to a small boy who is inhabited by Fate, saying that Gartok has no choice - in destroying Morthel, he is serving Fate. Reinholt buys a ring of souls from a man unaware of its powers. Quintus arrives with a group of Helvettians who were attacked by wyverns on the road. Dramos locates and speaks with Andro. The Oracle and Godan join the group as they discuss the future. The party discusses an allegiance with Fate against Morthel. Reinholt speaks with Dariss on how to defeat Morthel.
