Kishaan, Quinn, Corvus, Zelphar and Togg, along with his mechanical dog Axle, head to Eliza Falstaff at The Halls. They hear about two locations in the North Woods which need exploration. The Logging Camp workers have notes a number of cavern entrances they have discovered whilst deforesting the North Woods. They have also been rumours about sightings of small, scaled, quadrupedal creatures.

The second location is a tower in the north-western area of the forest, which has been mostly cleared. Apparently, the top floor of the tower has been sealed with some kind of magical effect.

The adventurers set out, Quinn noting that its going to be foggy for the next twenty-four hours.

Along the road, they see a cart that's traveling southward parallel to the road, on the eastern side of the hills. They command it to stop on militia business, but it continues to move on. Eventually, the attractive woman heads over to speak with the group.

She claims to have business with Geoffrey Howell in town. But, the adventurers suspect something is amiss. Zelphar tires to move off int he direction of the cart, so the woman, Cirtha, charms Zelphar, then a number of other adventurers.

Combat ensues, with a number of charmed guards in militia uniforms. The guards are killed, along with a very attractive man with powerful abilities. Cirtha gets away by plain shifting, abandoning the oxen-led cart and its cargo.

Inside the cart are eight tiefling infants, five babes and three slightly older kids. The four year old, Dari, has rosy skin, brown eyes, blond hair and black horns. One of the three year olds, Jacob, has purple skin. Their left eye is silver, their right eye is black. Their hair is black.

Quinn sends a message back to Goraz - "It's Quinn. Found infant tiefling smuggling wagon on, just off Myloch's Way. Bringing direct to council doorstep in next hour. Please be around to help."

Kishaan uses his raven companion, Pepe, to fly north and track the cart. It discovers that the tracks reach the an area near the northern curtain of mountains, then appeared from nowhere.
