Thunder is a ill-tempered donkey.
The beast was first purchased by Florenzo who needed a mount and felt inspired by relationship between the donkey's name, Thunder, and Florenzo's undying fandom for the gladiator fighter, The Hurricane. Thunder has only one good eye.
Unfortunately, Thunder never seemed to behave and was well known for causing more damage to party members than doing anything useful. Eventually, Florenzo entrusted the beast the tiefling ranger, Moribund. Moribund's senses caused him to profess the famous line - "This donkey has killed." - on first meeting with the mount.

Much Later

Adventurers were seeking to aid C'anis whose soul was trapped in the Kraken Greataxe. Research and information from Bern indicated that there was once a pirate lord named ‘Storm-Something, Storm Rider…? This individual had immense success controlling storms during his reign. It was put down to a necklace he wore which had a single, round-slitted eye mounted into it. This eye twinned the one on the Kraken Greataxe. One day the pirate traveled north to seek the advice of a sage and was never seen again.
That sage was Mother, and she permanently polymorphed the man into the donkey Thunder.
The adventurers dispelled magic on him briefly in order to steal the necklace around his neck and deal with the pressing situation. Thunder was then left at Bern's Hut.
