A party of adventurers are joined by Lorey at the Temple of the People. The group discuss pressing issues and then head to the Temple of Sardonyx. Here they talk to illusions of the head priests before discovering the temple has been infiltrated. C'anis is taken over by a death jester and, without realising the difference, the heroes kill C'anis. Reinhold rushes in to revify C'anis but his soul has entered Gartok's axe. Whilst questioning the head of the church of Sardonyx, Fate consumes him and warns the party of his great power. 'Til communes with Imogen, and she informs him that C'anis’s soul is trapped in a prison of man-made creation. Meanwhile, others rush off to find the head of the Temple of Dariss - Draekenthul killed in the Temple.
