Adventurers awake in the square of Genasari with no recollection of how they arrived there. They had all shared a dream about robed figures, a screaming man and strange silver wires rising into the cavernous ceiling.

Aware again of their surroundings, the party discuss their memories of their dream. The mercenary group, The Bronze Swords, are leaving the city through the front gates.

Dreen immediately sneaks off into the shadows and heads to the scourers hut to speak with Aaron. He is reminded of his task to collect a package from Eli at Grey's Undertakers. Whilst there, Eli mentions that they are having issues with large rats being driven out of the tunnels. Dreen then goes to Radley Rook's House of Rarities to deliver the package he collected - a long wooden box. Radley Rook is disturbed by the lad's visit, and he appears to be packing up or heading on a journey.

The rest of the group visit the House of Arcana where they try to secure a meeting with the Head of Arcana, Master Torben. The secretary informs the group that Torben is busy, but Lady Visciana is currently due for a meeting with Phoenix at the local tavern, The Ardanath Arms.

During the meeting, Visciana tries to convince the group to come to the House of Arcana for testing, to discern the nature of these shared visions. The group debate whether they should and then agree, being led onto a high floor of the building. Several individuals do not enter, worried of the implications and wait in the street.

A sudden crackle of energy bursts throughout the city, and the barrier between Genasari and the outer world is broken. Those in the House of Arcana become aware that a fight is occurring between some of the mages known to the house and a collection of knolls and hobgoblins. These armoured creatures also burst in through the front gate. Forced to flee, those outside run into the building as townsfolk are slaughtered where they stand in the street.

The groups fight against the attackers that seem to have entered the House of Arcana through a portal. It is clear that meteor-like strikes have fallen on the militia barracks in both the eastern and western quarters of the city. A group of unknown magic users gather in the center of town, removing the large Genai Stone and shifting it into a large inky-black hole that they carry with them.

The two parties of adventurer reunite and are led out by a mage, who takes them into the catacombs, then into the sewers. Lucius, who has a scourers Genai shard necklace, then guides the group outside the city walls.
