Following the tracks of the militia guards and Krynt, a group of adventurers cross the river and head into the Eastern Swamp. There are wraiths and apparitions in the Eastern Swamp. Surveyed by a following raven with a red gem in its mouth, the heroes discover the corpses of several escaped guards suspended in trees. Continuing on, the party heads towards a hut they spot but are assaulted by giant toads who almost digest a number of the group. The hut appears to be home to a young woman, Meltaint, distressed that her husband and child have not returned. Inside Krynt is unconscious on a table. The party leaves the women, tensions high, and take Krynt back to town for trial.
